Angels Anaheim 06 120-140 175-200 200-250 Paper label was put over the LA base decal when they were planning their move to Anaheim. LA on hat was usually colored in with blue also. Same description as the LA doll below but tougher to find.

Angels LA 04 75-100 100-125 125-175 Fairly common doll, almost always
comes in the sideways hat style. Usually rather dull, hard to find with gem colors and shine.

Athletics

      KC

05 90-120 125-175 175-225 One of the few White Bases that come with a chest decal, not embossed. Holding bat, can come with or without pinstripes.

Braves Milwaukee 6 150-200 225-250 250-300 High end examples do very well.

Cardinals St Louis 7 200-225 300-350 375-450 One of the most repaired (touched up) dolls around. They are hard to come by in any condition but almost impossible in NrMt/Mt. Look very closely at the sharply pointed rear feathers for touchups.

Colt 45 Houston 6 100-125 125-150 150-200 Both Colt 45 dolls come with or without the crossed pistol decals on hat and base, small premium for dolls with decals. Cowboy hat  almost always has erratic paint strokes. White jersey has become a bit tough to find lately.

Colt 45 Blue Jersey Houston 6 300-350 425-500 500-750 First run of Colt 45 dolls came with an all blue uniform. Quite a few have popped up but still a very desirable doll.

Cubs Chicago 6 150-200 225-300 375-425 Pretty tough doll, hard to find a bright one as body paint is normally toned a bit.

Dodgers LA 5 80-100 125-150 175-200 Almost always holding a ball, I've only had one holding a bat.

Dodgers Decal LA 7 100-140 150-200 200-250 Comes with a small chest decal rather than the embossed logo. Pretty tough variation.

Giants SF 7 125-150 175-250 350-400 Very, very tough doll to find in NrMt/Mt condition. Black hat, chest and hat decals, always seem to have problems.

Giants Decal SF 7 120-150 225-250 300-350 Comes with a small chest decal rather than the embossed logo. Pretty tough variation.

Indians Cleveland 5 200-250 250-300 350-400 Often restored, hard to find a top original doll.

Mets NY 6 125-150 150-175 200-250 Very condition sensitive doll, pretty tough in any condition but especially so in higher grades.

Mets Blue Shoes NY 6 125-150 175-225 250-300 Neat variation with the blue shoes. Chest decal can vary in size.

Mets Unique Face NY 10 150-200 200-225 225-400 Previously this style face was only known with the Senators. Quite rare, I've only seen a few.

Orioles Baltimore 7 150-200 225-300 350-425 Head is a bit smaller than the original Color Base Oriole. Has become a tough doll to find.

Phillies Philadelphia 5 100-125 140-180 180-250 Nice doll, fairly available for a white base.

Pirates Pittsburgh 7 150-180 200-250 250-400 Still very difficult and probably the key to the set.

Reds Cincinnati 6 100-150 150-225 200-350 Tough doll, very difficult to find with a white head that is not heavily shellacked.

Red Sox Boston 5 100-125 125-175 175-250 Comes with a decal, not embossed.

Senators Washington 5 100-125 150-225 225-300 About the middle of the road for this set.

Senators
(Unique Face)
Washington 5 100-125 150-225 225-300 For some reason, the Senator White Base was also made with this unique face, different from any other mold made. Recently saw a Mets example in this face, don't know of any others.

Tigers Detroit 5 100-130 160-240 200-350 Nicks to ears often a problem. Beautiful looking doll in "Gem" condition. Hard to find with a white body.

Twins Minnesota 7 100-120 150-200 250-400 I find this to be a very tough doll to find in any condition. Has really dried up lately.
Twins Minneapolis 10 ? ? $4000+ Super rare variation, I've only had one ever. Went for over $4000 in 2013.

White Sox Chicago 4 80-100 120-160 175-225 Comes around often, however pretty tough to find with bright colors and  shine.

Yankees NY 4 90-125 140-180 200-250 Comes with or without pinstripes.  Fairly available but still pretty popular.

Yankees Elbows NY 5 100-130 150-200 225-350 Tougher Yankee variation although more have shown up recently.

Willie Mays SF 5 175-200 250-300 300-450 The original dark face Mays was issued with the White Base set. Not rare but very hard to find in top condition, particularly the chest decal. Name is misspelled on the base.

Willie Mays Light Face SF 5 175-200 225-300 300-450 This doll was actually reissued several years after the White Base set was produced, roughly 1966. Facial features almost look "Asian". I think there are fewer "light faces" out there but its easier to find these with "gem" qualities.

Willie Mays Silver Sticker SF 9 500-700 700-900 1000-1200+ Very rare doll that doesn't show up often. Only one I've ever had for sale went for $1183 in 2014.

Willie Mays Correct Signature SF 9 600-800 800-1200 1200-1500+ Another rarity, this one has a correctly spelled Willie Mays on the base. As of the begonning of 2019 I've had this doll in auction twice, went for $1669 and $1173 in 2017 and 2018.

Mickey Mantle NY 4 200-275 300-350 500-600 Original Mantle on a square base. Very popular doll. Many have been surfacing and prices have dropped somewhat. A true "Mint" Mantle is tough to come by, most being sold as such have been restored.. Be very careful. Prices do not include the box.

Mickey Mantle Round Base NY 5 250-300 300-375 500-600 Like the Mays light face, this is the reissued Mantle from 1966. Comes on a round base with wide shoulders. Often referred to as the "Muscles" variation. Rarer then the original Mantle. A true "Mint" Mantle is tough to come by, most being sold as such have been restored.. Be very careful. Prices do not include the box.

Roger Maris NY 6 200-225 300-350 500-650 Much tougher than the Mays or Mantle, especially hard to find in top condition.

Roberto Clemente Pittsburgh 8 800-1000 1000-1500 1500-3000 Still the "Crown Prince" of bobbing heads, not many show up and when they do they go for top prices. Very often repaired. True minty  Clemente's csn go for $2500- $3000+.

Superstar Boxes   8   $100-200 mantle
and Maris.
Mantle and Maris came with their own boxes with a color picture of the doll. Adds a lot of value, minimum 25-35%. Mays box is generic with a Willie Mays stamp on end of box, same as Clemente, misspelled Ruberto. Adds value, maybe 20 %.

Illustrated Boxes All 8       The first run White Base dolls came in their own customized illustrated boxes. Very neat and very sought after. Not enough are sold separately to determine actual prices, however, from what I've seen they add a minimum of 20-30% to the doll that comes with the custom box.
Standard Boxes           Standard White base (and Green Base) box has a generic ballplayer and is titled "My Favorite Baseball Team". Says "Japan" at the bottom of the picture. Has a stamp on either end of box with team name. Gold base boxes say "Made In Japan" and have a sticker. White Base boxes sell individually for $10- $20, figure you can add 5-10% or more to doll's value if you have the box.

White Base Notes:

This is the first Japan set that featured all 20 teams of the era (Mets and Colt 45's entered the league in 1962) and appears to have been a big improvement over the 1961 Color Base set. Nice quality overall, not as bright and colorful as the later Green Base set however its much nicer overall than the Gold Base. Two new head styles,  the intro of the "mascot" heads, and the inclusion of base decals was a welcome improvement on the Color Base series. As mentioned above, the original first run included the custom illustrated boxes, I guess they realized quickly that it would be a lot cheaper and more practical to stick them in generic boxes with a stamp rather than have to mix and match the dolls with their correct box.

On a historical note, the players they chose to have their own dolls had great years in 1961, Maris and Mantle had their famous home run duel in 1961 and they were the talk of baseball. Willie Mays was also regarded by most as the best player of the era. (Ever, if you ask me).  Clemente led the National league in batting with a .351 average and Latin born players were just starting to make there mark in the big leagues.. Frank Robinson, who was the NL MVP in 1961 and led his team to the World Series doesn't have a doll... I wonder if he was considered?  Ditto Hank Aaron, Stan Musial, Sandy Koufax and Ernie Banks. Keep looking, you never know.

Mays and Mantle were the most popular players of the era, so it makes sense that both dolls were reissued later (about 1966) and were made in greater quantities than the Maris or the Clemente.

Also interesting is the Washington Senator doll. The Senators were a long time AL team that moved to Minnesota and became the Twins in 1961. It is assumed that the Color base Senator (which is extremely rare) represented that "Old" Senator team and was quickly replaced by the Twins doll which is very abundant.  The "old" Senators were replaced immediately with a new expansion team (also called the Washington Senators, later the Texas Rangers). The White base Senator is really a doll representing one of the 2 new expansion teams. (LA Angels the other).

Speaking of the Angels, they planned to move from LA to Anaheim during the 1963 Season. The makers of Bobbing Heads responded by sticking paper labels, stars, or whatever else they could find on the LA white base dolls. Who wanted an LA doll if they were moving? Turns out the move took quite awhile, they played for several years in LA before finally moving and becoming the "California Angels". (See the California Angels Gold Base Doll). Its interesting to note that every once in awhile you can come across a Green Base doll with the Anaheim sticker. I guess things were still up in the air when they started the Green Base set...

Set includes a Spokane Indians Pacific Coast League doll. It's a Cleveland doll with a paper label. It's very rare but not all that sought after except for your serious collectors.

Colt 45 Blue Jersey variation was based on a real all Blue Uniform that the team wore on special occasions.
